Dear all,
I have just managed to put together mulinux 13r2 on an old mitac 486dx2 laptop (500mb disk). Its a great piece of work! It is essentially going to become a server for my home lan (which is connected to the internet via an adsl router).
I have been trying to get the mail services (via smail setup - I have setup postfix before on a mandrake box) and have managed to get smail to use bind to deliver messages outbound. I am not using smarthost as my ISP does not allow relaying. The problem is that before I reroute ports on the router to this server, I want to ensure that relaying is disabled for all external clients. Essentially, I only want clients inside the lan (private ips, 192.168.0.0 network) to be able to send emails thru this server. I have seen the smtp_remote_allow directive in the config file but mulinux's version of smail does not seem to understand it (which version is this anyway?) Perhaps I have got the syntax wrong. Can anyone suggest another way of allowing only internal usage of the smtp server?
An aside question, when I use mutt as root to email out, the message appears to have been sent from Michele with his email address. I have not been able to replace this with my details, can anyone point me to the relevent config file?
Also, I have a dyndns.org account and this is currently managed by the ddclient on a mandrake box. As mulinux will be replacing this box, can anyone advise on clients that work well with 13r2 release of mulinux? I have all the available addon's except tex installed.
Thanks for bearing with me!
Raj
