Dear Sean,
it might be instructive to read the terminal program you use. The machines
are not all that different from one another, so I might be able to steal
an idea or two.
Maybe you can send me the program in some unix-readable format? Like
opening the terminal connection and sending the LIST-ing accross the link?
Don't forget any machine code bits it might use, though.
