I think we'ra taking a "deja-vou" on Renassaince. A Digital Renassaince. We're disconvering again the human factor behind all that software (commercial of not). Money is quickly spend, demanding to be earned again tomorrow, but now, we, common people, have a chance to write our names in history (like Linux Torwalds and Richard M. Stallman - we can agree with RMS or not, but we can't deny his place in History).
You're right on this ego stuff... We want immortality!!!! Maybe a virtual one, but still immonrtality!!! 8-)

Money, like any other tool, isn't good or bad. The hand behind it is the spot of the question. Even weapons are'nt bad. We are collectors on the our dawn (I love "2001, A Space Odissey"!!!!), and the weapons could make us hunters, a crucial fact to our evolution. Even nowadays, vegetables doesn't provide us with all the protein we demand...
Educate the hand, and the tool will make great things...
